On an art website, I found that you were wondering about the rose watercolors of Victorian times. I have a "yard of roses" watercolor (found in the attic of a house I purchased) that I now recognize as a rather exact copy of the print sold by Paul de Longpre "La France Roses" of 1903. There are pale lines outlining each flower. I assumed that this was pencil. Could it be an outline sold for painting in the pink roses? There were printed roses for needlepoint in that era - What do you think?
